Gemali's Kitchen is a vibrant culinary platform built for a family-run UK business passionate about making authentic, home-cooked food accessible to everyone. The website serves as both a recipe discovery hub and a community where food enthusiasts can save favourites, rate dishes, and explore a diverse collection of global cuisine.

The Challenge🔗

The business needed a platform that could aggregate recipes from multiple sources — both hand-curated content managed internally and recipes sourced from external APIs. Users needed a fast, searchable interface with personalised features, while the business required an easy content management workflow to keep recipes fresh and relevant.

Our Approach🔗

We built Gemali's Kitchen using Next.js 12 with Firebase handling user authentication via Google Login, enabling seamless sign-in for the community. The UI was crafted with MUI (Material-UI) and enhanced with Motion Framer animations for a polished, engaging feel. Recipes are sourced from two channels: a carefully curated collection managed in Contentful CMS, and a sophisticated recipe API that pulls culinary content from across the web. For instant search, we integrated Algolia, delivering lightning-fast results as users type. The entire platform runs on Vercel for reliable, high-performance hosting.
